Texas judge who whipped daughter won't be charged

A Texas judge whose daughter secretly recorded him violently whipping her seven years ago, when she was 16 years old, will not be charged because it happened too long ago.

Police said they likely would have charged Aransas County Court-at-Law Judge William Adams with causing injury to a child, or a similar offence, but the five-year statutes of limitations expired.

"We believe that there was a criminal offence involved and that there was cheap jerseys substantial evidence to indicate that and under normal circumstances ... a charge could have been made," Rockport Police Chief Tim Jayroe told The Associated Press.

The judge's daughter, Hillary Adams, says she uploaded the video of the beating to YouTube because her father "just needs help."

Adams, now 23, posted the video last week that she secretly made in nfl jerseys cheap 2004 in which her father whips her with a belt at least 17 times and threatens to beat her "into submission."

The eight-minute video has been viewed more than two million times since then.

"I'm experiencing some regret because I just pulled the covers off my own father's misbehaviour after so many people thought he was such a good person. ... But so many people are also telling me I did the right thing," she told The Associated Press near her mother's Texas home.

"He's supposed to be a judge who exercises fit judgment," she said.

A local television station caught up with the judge on Wednesday and he admitted it was him in the video.

"In my mind, I haven't done anything wrong other than wholesale soccer jerseys discipline my child after she was caught stealing," Adams said. "And I did lose my temper, but I've since apologized."

Hillary, at the time of the incident, had gotten in trouble for illegally downloading software and said she secretly turned on her camera because "she knew something was going to happen."

She says the beating wasn't a one-off, and it happened regularly.

Adams says she didn't natypost the video for revenge but rather for her father to get help.

"We need to reach out to victims and the abusers themselves to get people to realize what it actually is," she said.

In the opening seconds of the video, William Adams is heard telling Hillary's mother, "Go get the belt. The big one. I'm going to spank her now."

He then tries to force his daughter to bend over the bed and starts lashing her with the belt when she refuses.

"Lay down or I'll spank you in your (expletive) face," he screams.

Several minutes later, Hillary's mother comes steelers jerseys cheap in and yells at her to "turn over like a 16-year-old and take it! Like a grown woman!"

The parents leave but William Adams returns shortly and continues to beat her.

Hillary's mother, Hallie Adams, divorced the judge in 2007, and said her ex's violent manner came from an "addiction," which was a "family secret."

She told NBC she was "completely brainwashed cheap jerseys and controlled" by her husband.

Hallie Adams admitted to local media that she and her ex-husband are currently involved in a custody dispute over their 10-year-old daughter.

Adams, Aransas County's top judge, was elected in 2001 and has dealt with more than 300 family law cases this year, including 50 that involved whether parents were fit to raise their children.
